1:14 pm: Matinee Idle...
Is very good, it being a summer radio show on NZ - meaning what they're listening to at the beach here - maybe. Basically, it's talk and tunes, with today's theme being politically incorrect songs. You may hear it live here every day around lunchtime...

http://www.radionz.co.nz/audio/live/national

Which means around midnight in Europe, give or take a few hours, and around 4pm in the US, give or take a few hours, and umm, 11am Aussie time - give, etc. Whatever, it's on now as I type!

9:46 pm: NZ Election...
Not decided yet, but it's looking like it'll be a National government. The assumption has been that that would mean it'd be a National/Act government, but an alternative suggested on the TV tonight is a National/Maori Party government. It's just possible that National, our center-right party, may prefer to be pulled a bit left than a bit right by their coalition partner. An interesting possibility...

10:54 pm: Everybody are chatterboxes...
It found women spoke a daily average of 16,215 words compared to an average 15,699 words for men

If you take out eight hours for sleeping, that's about 1000 words an hour, or 16 or so a minute. Now if you allow for an equal amount of silence for the person you're talking to to speak, you've only half a minute to say those 16 words, so it's roughly one word every two seconds. Now I'd guess we probably speak about two words a second, so it seems we're talking for about a quarter of our waking lives.

8:29 pm: Also at CES...
I didn't follow CES this time, and from the outside all it sounded like was iPhone, iPhone, iPhone! Of which full marks to Apple.

But I've just done a search now to see what WowWee released, and the king jester of hi-tech companies didn't disappoint. See, for instance, the Robopanda, Roboquad and Roboboa.

But, along with those and to prove once again that every generation gets the Elvis it deserves, (and I remind you NOT to search for Extreme Elvis), they're also giving us a fully-licensed robotic Elvis.

You know you want one, don't you?

But Carl is way too busy to play with the robots he already has, I'm afraid to say...

9:14 pm: It works!!!
Meaning my main printer software!  Specifically, "HP Director".

I'd been able to install my printer software on my new laptop and the printer/scanner would run when other software accessed it, but HP Director itself just wouldn't run.  Half a dozen install/ uninstalls and other fluffing about hadn't worked, so I searched the web about it today - and found the fix.  Specifically...

UNINSTALL IE7!

Yeah - well it's obvious that a web browser you're not using will stop your printer software from working.  But then I'm dumb, unlike the wizards at Microsoft...
